Intimate Wedding on the Star of India, San Diego
Saumya and Marcus’ wedding on May 12, 2021 was small, heartfelt, and incredibly sweet — the kind of day that feels warm from the very first moments. Saumya got ready at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, in a high-floor room with breathtaking views over the bay and the Coronado Bridge. Soft morning light, calm energy, and those iconic San Diego waterfront views created the perfect setting for a timeless, romantic start to their celebration.
For their ceremony, they chose the iconic Star of India in San Diego — a timeless waterfront setting full of character and charm, perfect for an intimate gathering.
We also had the chance to take portraits aboard the Steam Ferry Berkeley (built in 1898), adding a beautiful historic nautical backdrop.
We then stopped at Waterfront Park in San Diego for a few portraits. Just across the street, you get a view toward the downtown area, and the classic May Gray gave us that soft, even light that’s perfect for gentle, timeless photos.
We ended the day with a cozy backyard reception: intimate, relaxed, and centered on family. It was one of those warm, feel-good evenings with string lights overhead, lots of laughter, and TWO incredible cakes! And the best surprise of the night: three hilarious dogs who clearly understood the dress code: they showed up in their little “formal” outfits and completely stole the spotlight. :)
I had the chance to photograph Saumya and Marcus’ engagement session earlier, too — you can see it here:
